Residents of four more villages in Bajaur district have been allowed to return home after security forces cleared the areas of militant presence, according to officials.
The cleared villages include Bara Laghari, Lara Laghari, and Darmiyaani Laghari in Lowi Mamund tehsil, as well as Dabrai in War Mamund tehsil. With this development, 14 localities have now been declared safe since the ongoing security operation began.
District administration sources confirmed that the repatriation process is in progress, with more than 4,000 displaced families already resettled in their homes. Authorities said they are working to ensure a smooth return for the remaining families.
Police Target Unregistered Vehicles in Bajaur
Separately, Bajaur police have intensified action against non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles that remain unregistered with the excise department.
Officials said the move was prompted by growing security concerns in the district, where unregistered vehicles are viewed as a potential risk. Despite repeated appeals over the past year, a significant number of residents have not completed the profiling process.
“Registration of these vehicles is not just a formality—it’s a security measure,” police stated, adding that several NCP vehicles were impounded during the crackdown. Owners have been directed to complete registration immediately to avoid penalties.
Local police sources estimated that nearly half of the NCP vehicles in the district still lack official profiling, though many others have complied since the registration drive was launched in late October 2023.
