Punjab’s e-Pay App Nets Rs65 Billion in Just Two Months, Setting a New Record

Punjab’s digital tax platform, e-Pay Punjab, has recorded more than Rs65 billion in revenue within the first two months of the ongoing 2025-26 fiscal year, underscoring the province’s accelerating shift toward online payments.

The announcement came during a performance review meeting led by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Faisal Yousaf, who credited the growth to rising trust in the platform and its expanding services.

Citizens Embrace Digital Payments

Over 6 million transactions were processed through the app in this period alone, while 70,000 new users downloaded the service. The numbers point to a steady adoption curve as residents increasingly turn away from traditional counters and embrace digital options.

Sales Tax on Services accounted for the bulk of collections, bringing in Rs40.6 billion. Other significant contributors included:

  • Token Tax: Rs4.8 billion
  • Traffic Challans: Rs1.65 billion
  • Property Tax: Rs804 million

Streamlining 88 Different Taxes

Launched by the PITB with backing from the Punjab Finance Department and 1Link, the platform centralizes 88 types of payments across 18 provincial departments, including land records. The goal is to simplify government transactions while reducing queues at physical offices.

Building a Transparent Ecosystem

Faisal Yousaf said that the board is working to expand service options on e-Pay Punjab, aiming to make the process more transparent and accessible. The app allows payments via ATMs, mobile and internet banking, over-the-counter banking, mobile wallets, and even telecom agents—making it easier for citizens across urban and rural Punjab to comply with tax requirements.

With tax revenues climbing and digital adoption surging, Punjab’s e-Pay system is emerging as a model for how technology can streamline governance and increase efficiency in public services.
